I’m sure you’ve seen these stacking wire bangles everywhere lately. I. AM IN LOVE. Seriously. And after seeing some inspiration on Pinterest…I decided to test out making these babies myself. Then at least I can indulge in having a variety for every outfit and occasion.
I think you’ll find that making these are quite easy once you get the hang of it.
Supplies:
- Wire (16-20 gauge) – I used 20 gauge for these
- Variety of beads (sizes and colors can vary, really it’s whatever you like)
- Flat Nose Pliers
- Wire Cutters
- Goblet or Glass
Step 1: To form the shape of your bangle, wrap the wire around the goblet or glass. If you have a bangle that fits you well, you can use that for the size of your bangle. I used 20 gauge wire and so only wrapped the wire 4 times. The smaller the wire gauge, the fewer coils you’ll need…but it’s all preference.
You’ll need to make sure that one end has about 8 inches of excess wire, and then the other end should be much longer than that (close to double).
Step 2: Take the shorter end of the wire and wrap it around the bangle coil 3-4 times. You’ll want to make sure that it’s wrapped around nice and tight.
Step 3: Now comes the fun part. Thread your bead(s) through the shorter wire. For the turquoise bangle, I only thread one bead; for the pearl bangle, I thread three pearl beads.
Step 4: Wrap the wire around the bangle coil on the other side of the bead(s) 3-4 times.
Step 5: Next, wrap the wire around the base of the bead a few times, this will help give the bead(s) some stability. The hardest part is trying to get the wire to all lay right.
Step 6: Repeat Steps 2- 5 until all the beads / bead clusters are added (3 clusters total).
And viola! You have completed bangles!
Good luck and happy crafting!
